This is a game all about the varied and unusual stories it has to tell about the demise of various characters you encounter
To the credit of the people behind this game… it’s something quite unlike anything I’ve played before, at least when it comes to the sad and sometimes grim storytelling mixed with a very easygoing and casual feel. If that sounds strange, it really is, but explaining that everything takes place in the afterlife may help to explain it a bit. You play as a cat, who acts as a server for the titled bear, who happens to be a quality chef in the hereafter. For the most part you’ll be talking to patrons of the restaurant and seeing what they’d like, then taking the order to bear who’ll inevitably have a way of making pretty well no matter what it is they request. For some souls you’ll encounter they won’t know what to get and you’ll end up having to dive into their memories, unlocking stories that range from happy to sad to outright tragic (BTW, a small warning if you’ve encountered some traumatic experiences in your life, it could be triggering potentially). Ultimately it’s an experience focused on the stories, and that’s fine, but the “gameplay” is extremely basic with you just going back and forth quite a bit with little to no attempt at variety. Still, if the experience sounds intriguing it’s worth a look, just be prepared for some feels.
