While perhaps the story of two childhood friends may read a bit oddly, the smart co-op puzzling play works well enough
While most of the time the Switch tends to feature co-op multiplayer games that are played on the same unit, there’s also been a contingent of them where people each play on their own device. Fortunately it’s low-budget price and support for cross-platform play make it as convenient as you could hope to share the experience with a friend so it gets off to a strong start there. Narratively, while it starts out a bit more traditionally with two young boys deciding to run away together, when they stumble upon a dead deer in the woods it triggers a change that causes them to see two different worlds around them. What follows is a very communication-driven co-op experience where you’ll each need to convey what you see and are doing in order to try to come to a solution to the puzzles that will present themselves. With a focus more on logic than action and a pace that you can take as slowly as you like or may need this is a smart co-op experience that feels fresh and interesting.
