Reviews:
  • This budget seasonal shooter may be lack depth, but it valiantly tries to compensate with breadth of modes

You know, I get it when it comes to “seasonal fare” this time of year, and the desire to make a few opportunistic impulse bucks that normally wouldn’t be spent. The thing is, by and large the indie space when it comes to horror or Halloween-esque titles is populated with far more losers than winners unfortunately. Now, normally I’d be pretty tough on a relatively basic first-person arena shooter like this, as by their nature they don’t tend to have much in the way of depth. That said, even without considering the timely theming as these budget first-person shooters go there are at least signs of effort that come in the form of a variety of modes and some different challenges as well. While fundamentally it’s all the same weapons, environs, and enemies there is definitely a difference in the feel and flow of straight-up arcade and something a bit more random that plays out more like a roguelike with some classic risk and reward. At this price tag you can’t be expecting deep and long-term challenges, but if you’re just looking to knock out a few minutes shooting some stuff up it isn’t a terrible option either, especially this time of year.
