Mixing together time limits, puzzle elements, and a need for some platforming precision amps up the challenge
Given the fact that there are plenty of puzzlers and platformers on the system, making for much tougher overall competition, it makes sense to shoot for making a game that’s a mixture of both instead. Puzzle platformers may have some representation, but aside from the number of competitors being lower I’d say there’s also a fair amount of potential variety in how you implement things. Crystal Chip Collector e has chosen a path where speed and precision, more than anything, are the focus. You’ll need to quickly collect chips of different colors, but the tricky part is that using buttons on the walls you’ll be able to activate and deactivate them. You aren’t simply able to collect anything you see, depending on their state you’ll either grab the chip or get shocked to death by them, usually dictating an ideal path you’ll need to follow around the level to grab everything before your timer runs out. It isn’t long before the game will begin needling you to keep moving quickly and efficiently, narrowly avoiding the wrong pieces or switches as you quickly leap your way around. If you’re looking for a generally satisfying precision puzzle platformer, this hits that mark for sure.
