Roughly speaking the core concept in CubiKolor is quite simple. You are able to control a cube that has a different color on each of its sides. Each level challenges you to get from the start to the lock that will finish it and as you move the different colors on your sides will make contact with the floor. Very quickly you’ll run into colored segments and, depending on where you need to go, you’ll want them to move either up or down to line up with another platform. If you move onto a colored block with the side of the matching color facing down it will move you up, and if any other color touches the block you’ll move down. While you’ll initially be concerned with moving about to ensure the right colors are in place it quickly escalates further, requiring you to guarantee you’re able to make an entire sequence of colors fall into place. It can require quite a bit of conceptual planning and brainpower as the levels advance to spatially figure out how to run the level in reverse and determine which sides need to be where before you begin the pattern. This is either an exercise you’ll relish or possibly dislike, I don’t imagine there would be much of a middle ground for opinion on it. If you have an ability to think spatially and plot things out in your mind CubiKolor will be a worthy challenge to consider. There are times when the camera can be tricky as you try to get a good position and depending on how things are oriented you can sometimes move in the wrong direction but for the most part this is a well-implemented, if simple at its core, puzzle experience. If you’re been looking for a puzzle challenge quite different from what’s already available on the Switch, CubiKolor definitely stands out as unique.
