With a continuous attempt to further monetize itself, minimal gameplay, and an often mean-spirited tone, skip this dessert
Whenever you see a game in the eShop that has a simplistic look and general style of play the first question you’ll tend to ask yourself is first whether it came from the mobile space and second whether it should have stayed there. In the case of Dessert DIY, I walked in with some hopes of seeing a game that could put together some sort of fun food prep tasks ala the old school Cooking Mama. What I got instead was a game constantly trying to upsell me to go to the eShop to buy more stuff, ambiguous orders that would often not be well-received, and poor attempts at topical humor with rough celebrity approximations or mean-spirited attempts to help people punish an ex of theirs. The result isn’t anywhere near varied enough, as cravenly greedy for a game you’ve already paid to play, and is frankly a bit embarrassingly crass and juvenile.
