When games are relatively simple, both visually and in terms of play, they really need to knock it out of the park with execution or things can go downhill quickly. While you can see some effort with this particular title, what surprised me was how quickly the puzzle element receded into the background while the game leaned heavily on you needing to perform what I’d call a jump-away push move in order to trigger the button required without getting hit by the spikes that come up when you do so. Perhaps this wouldn’t necessarily be too bad, but even when you know what you want to do mechanically the game’s controls just aren’t very well up to the task of making this move consistent as they’re a bit on the sloppy side. If you don’t mind periodic frustration with this there are other varieties of puzzles that are less of an issue but overall this game ran out of steam pretty quickly.
