If you’re down for a mix of creepy, weird, and somehow charming as well, buckle up!
This is one of those titles that’s hard to put a finger on, and due to its very dated look and general mechanics it may be a bit of a hard sell even for adventure fans. You’ll play as the undeniably creepy but somehow endearing Dropsy, a clown who has a big heart and loves to hug but who many in the public think of as a menace after a tragic accident. Working either to its advantage or its detriment, the formula here is just a bit different, with the game and narrative taking a more open-ended approach than normal, allowing you a great deal of freedom to explore and let your own hunches and whims guide you. That unfortunately also may bug people looking for a bit more clarity and structure, but I’ll give it credit for doing things its own way. If you’re willing to give it a chance, there’s a strange and pretty sweet game with a memorable main character here to explore and enjoy, just be ready for your expectations (and, at times, your patience) to be challenged.
