While the game seems to meet its modest goals for run and gun action, the experience is bland and not very rewarding
Trying to find the right mix of ambition and the talent to pull it off can, no doubt, be tricky when putting games together. Certainly aiming too high and coming up short in execution is a sure way to tank the end experience but there are also cases where solid execution of pretty run-of-the-mill concepts also falls flat. The latter is absolutely the case here, as on the whole the game controls pretty well, and having the choice of either shooting or slashing incoming zombies and monsters is nice… it’s just level after level if you’ve got any gaming chops at all it simply lacks much excitement. Perhaps less experienced gamers would get more out of it, but even removing the degree of challenge from the mix there’s just nothing inspired or interesting to do here, it just ends up feeling like variations on the same action, but nothing really ever raising an eyebrow of surprise.
