  • Why this pretty shallow and generic beat-em-up is selling for over $10 on the eShop I have no idea…

Sometimes there are just games out there that hit you the wrong way and baffle you with their presence on the eShop. Fury Fight, for me, is one such game, taking a really strong run of good to great beat-em-ups I’ve played on the Switch and running it hard into a wall. I’ll give it credit, its visual style is pretty distinctive, but somewhat in an odd way, though it certainly won’t even qualify for any beauty pageants. The core problem for me though is just that mechanically it doesn’t feel too great in action, on a general level its moves feel loose and a bit wonky, and I simply didn’t find it to be much fun. There are a few fighters to choose from but none of them help to break gameplay out of a pretty dull cycle of encountering enemies, dispatching them, and then loading up the next one a bit unceremoniously. Perhaps with a bit more polish and time this could be a bit more enjoyable, but as it is it just feels like an early release that needs more time in the oven.
