A more simplified version of a garden sim that’s chill but struggles more to be engaging
Looking to escape the stresses of your everyday life, and retreat to a more serene place to cultivate, but what if your typical life sim is still just too demanding. Is Stardew too complicated? Does Animal Crossing feel like too much of a fast track grind? If you somehow answered yes to either of these questions, then Garden Witch Life may be more your speed. While calling it a more basic version of the same general genre experience may be oversimplifying a little bit, that genuinely seems to have been the focus here, softening up a genre that’s already quite chill to be even more casual-friendly overall. Rather than feeling more objective-based and giving you pointers on what to do or complete to advance in some way, in this case everything is a bit more open-ended and lacking in consequences at times for inaction. Yes, there’s still some high-level guidance, especially early on, which will help you get to know the different screens and game systems to some degree, but the general feeling is still quite relaxed.Of course, if you’re not looking for a general dumbing down and/or scaling back from what’s typical in this cozy genre space, you’ll absolutely want to pass. Obviously more focused on simply laying things in front of you, and then leaving you to your own devices, fans of more structured play will also likely want to keep looking. If, however, you’ve been looking for a title that has an added layer of chill between you and even a traditionally relaxed space, this could be a great option.
