While it has great production values, and can weave an interesting story, you really need to be invested in what it brings to the table for the price
Given the fact that I’m someone who’ll simply review anything you put in front of me in the name of being thorough, I’ll admit that it can often end up having me encounter titles I normally would have never seen, let alone played. In particular, it always tends to be these narratively-driven titles that give me the most trouble, especially since I’m by no means some expert in the subgenre, or familiar with the different flavors many of them can have. That said, if you’re like me and just curious about what’s out there, perhaps that’s something I can at least help with.Set in an isolated floating city, you’ll play as Hinagiku, a young member of the nobility of Itehari, who has her world shaken while out exploring the city when she’s suddenly attacked. Thankfully, a man named Yashiro is able to save her life, but in the process ends up losing his memories. What follows is a mix of romantic beats, as you’ll have the option of getting involved with a number of different players, and the slow discovery on Hinagiku’s part that the world she thought she knew has been nothing but a lie. This mix of intrigue and the ability to find love, while wrapped up in everything, is the major selling point of the experience, and there are hours of content to enjoy, especially if you’d choose to go back and try seeing what would happen if you were to choose a different love interest.Of course, it helps that the game’s artwork is absolutely gorgeous, and it is clear that a lot of time, effort, and love went into its production. Having played so many visual novels of various kinds over the years, I’ve seen so many that have settled for a truly minimum effort when it comes to presentation, so this production by comparison absolutely stands out. That said, given the game’s price tag you’ll really need to be invested in its overall style, and the story it has to tell, to get the most for your money. I’d have appreciated the ability to be more in the driver’s seat with decisions impacting the world around me more than just who I’m spending time with, but I can see where this would have appeal for the right crowd.
