  • Captures the suspense of trying to escape from lethal dinosaurs using your wits and technology rather than guns

Having just gotten through the Halloween season, I was reminiscing about the games that have done the best job of creating tension and making me startled with effective jump scares. Really, there haven’t been too many that have done a great job of it, and the majority have valuable lessons to be learned with this title putting on a clinic for how things should be done. Given the fact that you remain weaponless in this dinosaur-laden adventure, you’ll end up needing to rely on careful and stealthy movement, keeping very good track of where your enemies are and what their line of sight may be, and then simply being observant to quickly look for any way that you can safely deal with the very efficient killing machines you’ll be dealing with. For me it’s really the excellent sounds of these creatures moving around right near me that I found most unnerving, and when I’d make a mistake and they’d quickly close in on me I had a tough time not saying “Clever girl” out loud after they’d typically make me jump. At times the objectives and how you’re able to evade your enemies can get a bit redundant but I was very pleasantly surprised by this dino game.
