While absolutely designed with younger or more casual gamers in mind, this light budget platformer has creativity and charm on its side
Folks who are fans of quality 2D platformers have plenty of reason to be happy with the pretty wide availability of them on the Switch. That said, more often than not they trend a bit to the tougher side, which could leave less experienced gamers in a lurch. That’s where a title like Lila’s Tale comes into the picture, and while perhaps its look is a bit more on the simple side there’s something to be said for the fact that it’s colorful, engaging, and shows some variety and creativity. There’s a collect-a-thon aspect to it to a degree, but the majority of the collectables are along the main path, the rest are generally hidden just a little out of the way. The controls are solid, though generally simple, and should be quite accessible for even newer gamers. Probably only a great match for families, but there’s something to be said for filling in coverage gaps so that everyone has something they can enjoy.
