If the mere mention of endless runner-styled games makes you groan, this will do nothing to change your mind
Usually relegated to the mobile space these days, though there have been some noteworthy exceptions that did the formula pretty proud (looking at you, Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield), endless runners have a tendency more often than not to earn their bad rap when they come to console. While in terms of its animated visuals perhaps Little Kong has some appeal, it doesn’t take long for a sense of impatience with repetition and simply pretty stale play to set in. What I think is a bit weird is that its difficulty is in a pretty tough spot, with the gameplay being too simple for the hardcore set, but perhaps a bit too unforgiving for younger or less experienced gamers who may not mind the style. Throw in the occasional hitch in the action that can be quite distracting and it doesn’t even seem that its simplicity is giving you solid baseline guarantees. At least the price is roughly right, coming in at a budget-friendly price, but in general I’d say there’s better out there cheaper or even for free on mobile devices, with this being on Switch offering little benefit aside from maybe a larger screen if you’re using your phone.
