Reviews:
  • Delivers pretty well what you’d want to see in a follow-up with added features, unlockables, secrets, and challenges

The original Marble It Up! was quite a bit of fun, mixing the feels and sometimes wild level designs of the arcade classic Marble Madness with the very intense trailing camera perspective of the likes of the Super Monkey Ball series. Most of what you start out with is very reminiscent of the original, with some stages and looks definitely feeling like they’re in common. That said there are absolutely loads of new stages (boasting over 60) as well as some new and notable features, though what you get out of them will likely vary depending on your tastes. The first is the inclusion of cross-platform multiplayer, which is always a bit of a crapshoot in terms of whether the community will continue to stick with it, but there are absolutely some valiant attempts and each has their own flair. The main attraction though are the levels, many of which will challenge you with a smattering of power-ups as well as new features and nuances you’ll need to master to get through it all before you once again get thrown in the deep end when you get to some of the diabolical bonus stages. All said this is a sequel that absolutely realized the potential you could easily see in its predecessor, and since it has been improved and expanded without losing the rock-solid controls and terrific feel of the original. If you enjoy some at-times-challenging physics action this is a terrific choice.
