While fans of this superhero duo may be inclined to be forgiving, there’s no doubt that this action adventure has issues
Perhaps when dealing with games obviously made for the younger set it’s appropriate to pull back your expectations a bit, but in the case of Miraculous it feels like they’ve crossed a line where its shortcomings can’t simply be brushed aside. Featuring the odd and fabulous duo of Ladybug and Cat Noir, your challenge will be to thwart the various oddball enemies determined to put the city in peril. Well, except when you’re instead having to walk around the city to talk to various dull people and be bored with the monotony of regular life that the developers apparently felt added depth to the experience (or they just wanted to cheaply pad out the runtime). What bugs me here is that while more simplistic action and perhaps bland dialogue can come along for the ride with licensed games for kids, that shouldn’t excuse poorly-executed mechanics and a pretty consistently awful camera. The highlight of the game should be when you’re getting to play as the heroes, but the stiff and awkward action is hardly rewarding, generally feeling unresponsive and requiring pretty well no technique. All of this adds up to what amounts to a licensed game that should, by default, appeal to fans but doesn’t feel like it has earned its asking price.
