If you’re looking for an experience somewhere between racing and an endless runner, this works out reasonably well
Given that I’m always down for a decent racing game, the Switch had stretches where it simply felt like it was getting no love. Thankfully, over the years, the regularity of titles in that vein have been more consistent, but I’d still love to see more. I was absolutely excited seeing a little footage of Moto Rush Reborn, especially since I’d been enjoying the street racing through traffic in Gear Club Unlimited 3 recently. Now, having actually played the final product, I’d say there’s both good and bad news depending on what sort of experience you’re looking for.The main thing to note is that this is a title that fully embraces the Rush part of its name. This isn’t a game where you’ll hit the asphalt for long drives through varied terrain, taking on all comers. Instead it’s very much focused on runs that won’t take more than a few minutes, where you’ll be trying to push yourself to go as fast as you can, while minimizing collisions, and swiping by other vehicles as quickly as possible. I suppose I should mention that you’ll also have to contend with a variety of on-road hazards that will force you to duck, slide, and dodge your way carefully through periodic tough sections, all while doing a wheelie whenever you can to keep your speed as high as possible. Now, if you’re thinking that it doesn’t sound very much like a racing game once you add in all of these elements, you’d be right, but only to a degree. There’s still a satisfying sense of speed as you weave through traffic, and getting through tight sections after a series of close calls can absolutely get your blood pumping. I think saying that it’s racing meets an endless runner is pretty fair, since those evasive sort of maneuvers you need to survive in those are all included in this package, you just happen to be on a high-powered crotch rocket instead of being on foot. Given the result has a very arcade-like feel, I suppose it won’t be of much interest for purists, but if you’re looking for a racer you can enjoy in relatively quick bursts, that will challenge you to keep improving, it’s an excellent choice.
