A mix of roguelike challenge, stealth, some strategy, base building, and platform shooting that can still feel a bit too much like a grind
This is an odd one for me, as in terms of the general formula (perhaps with the exception of stealth… but you mostly have an ability to avoid those missions and situations) on paper it would seem to be right up my alley. I’ll admit I just got off to a rocky start with it, which never particularly helps but I may have just been off that day. So you get the hang of the platforming, choosing your weapons, keeping a hat on your head since it helps keep you alive, and trying to “capture” enemies and their gear to use later. I like the Rogue Legacy-esque system where everyone has their quirks which you’ll need to learn to deal with on-the-fly or eventually by doing the legwork with research and upgrades to help. The thing is, even with the game having a lot going on, for me the actual action got a bit too stale and repetitive to compensate for the level of grind it felt you needed to invest to keep expanding and upgrading your operations outside of the action. I could well just have it wrong, and I’m sure there’ll be fans out there, but for me this just ended up being “good” in the end and I had higher hopes for it.
