While it has a novel conceit and decent enough mechanics, on the whole Noob feels a bit generic
Considering games are now made all over the world and the scope of what can be found on the internet is staggering, I’ve become less surprised by games that turn out to be licensed but are for franchises I have no familiarity with. Apparently that’s the case with Noob, so my apologies if you’re a fan but that entire aspect of potential enjoyment for the game was lost on me. Outside of that fact I’ll admit that the premise involving you playing the game where your characters are themselves getting hooked into an online MMO is at least a bit different. The part that makes it tricky to clearly recommend though is that when it comes to combat and play there’s just nothing here that differentiates itself in any significant way from a slew of other pretty ordinary RPGs on the Switch. With middling looks, hit-or-miss humor, and a neat but somewhat familiar overall style it succeeds in making an impression with its characters and story but not much else.
