For more casual gamers this adventure that allows you to try to flex your digital artistry with limited tools may have some appeal
While I do appreciate games made more with the casual crowd in mind, the risk such games run is to be so benign that they lack much flavor. In the case of Passpartout 2 one advantage it has, with its pretty central artistic component, is that you have the choice to try to make the most of the limited tools made available to you. I have no doubt with some time and patience people could likely create some surprising art, the problem is that whether you’re an artist or just slapping colors down within the parameters you’re given I don’t believe the game much cares, leaving what’s otherwise a pretty simple but pleasant adventure of sorts to occupy your interest. That the game world itself can begin to take on your art in a variety of ways can be novel and fun, but unless this sort of creative angle appeals to you I don’t think the gameplay side has enough to offer to make it of much interest on its own.
