Outright odd, sometimes hard to follow, and not for everyone, if you’re willing to take the ride it at least offers a unique experience
One of the things that I’ve come to appreciate the most about indie developers, and some of the games they produce, is how often they tend to blow up your expectations and deliver experiences that you can’t anticipate. Granted, playing outside of the lines can also lead to complete disasters, and perhaps not everyone may like engaging with things that are so wildly different. All that said, particularly when the results are something pretty weird and funny, I’ve tended to be willing to extend some latitude.Peppered, right from the start, is an unconventional and unusual experience, and you’re going to simply have to buckle in and try to enjoy the ride. Yes, at the core of it all it’s a game with platforming elements, and even ones that can be quite demanding in spots, but more often than not it’s going to leave you guessing and hopefully consistently entertained. Whether it’s skewering corporate culture, capitalism, or some aspect of society as a whole, it absolutely has a perspective, and more often than not if it’s compatible with your sense of humor it can be pretty amusing. Also, if you enjoy transitioning between traditional platforming, some puzzles, odd mini games, and very likely meeting your demise more than once along the way, it’s absolutely going to be consistently surprising.Of course, the cost of some of that unpredictability and occasional points where it expects you to have your act together for more serious gaming sections, is the potential for frustrations as well. In many cases the consequences of key decisions are unclear, and new mechanics have a tendency to be introduced without explanation, so that will sometimes lead to struggles as you try to compensate. Depending on the timing and circumstances of your death, you may also get moved back more than you bargained for, and that can also be aggravating. If you’re game for the experience, there are absolutely laughs and surprises to be had along the way, just be prepared for some bumps in the road that are the cost of doing things differently.
