While no new enhancements have been made to this flagship puzzle series, it remains as the king of its subgenre hill
Considering that the puzzle subgenre Picross lives in, to most people, shares that same name it shouldn’t be a surprise that it delivers a great experience. While in its earliest incarnations on Switch it didn’t have everything together, momentarily leaving the door open to its competitors (which there are now quite a few of) to try to surpass them. Though I’d consider the interface that the developers at Jupiter put together to be the best, they didn’t always lead the way with new features. That said, since those earlier days they’ve implemented great touchscreen support, Mega Picross, Color Picross, Clip Picross, and even multi-player support so you can share the challenge with your friends. Throw in smart and nuanced interface help, the option of getting a leg up with hint roulette, and just a thoroughly refined overall experience and this remains as the pinnacle of puzzle series on the Switch.
