Reviews:
  • Two classic Pinball FX tables make their move to the new platform, and your purchase will go to charity

This is one of the tougher table packs to necessarily get excited over since they’ve both been around for quite some time, but at least they’re decent examples of Zen’s original creations. The added bonus with this specific pack is that proceeds from its sale will be donated to Project Pinball Charity and The Budapest Pinball Museum, both helping to preserve these classic games and maintain an appreciation for their value.

The first out of the gate is Excalibur, which may have been the first Pinball FX table I remember playing back in the day, I believe on my Nintendo DS. While I’ve always considered its layout to be a bit odd overall, that doesn’t mean it isn’t well-designed as a whole. In particular I’ve always liked some of the different modes that get activated and there is absolutely a flow you can get into at times which is always nice. The other is a more recent creation, the somewhat RPG-like Epic Quest which has what feels like a pretty classic overall layout and plenty of modes and nuances to get acquainted with. Both perform well enough in this version on Switch but the image quality can dip at times, so they aren’t without their flaws. Overall, I’d say this would be a lower-priority pack in my mind against some of the other options out there, but if you’re already a fan I’m sure they’ll still satisfy.
