This eclectic set of tables, with themes from some very different tabletop games, works out nicely
There are a few interesting aspects about pinball tables and their themes. First, the theme is only a small part of what makes a table special. A great property can be ruined by a poor layout or flow of play. Conversely, a table based on an unfamiliar property can become a favorite if it has great design and flow. Keeping this in mind the Game Night Pinball Pack is a pleasant surprise. While the tables vary in quality, they are all still well-designed and fun to play.Exploding Kittens is the weakest entry in the pack. The flow is a bit funky, and I'm not a fan of the implementation of the upper area. In the middle, Terraforming Mars has more of a classic playstyle, with a less complex layout. The theming is a bit less amusing, but the table plays well. Last, I’d consider Gloomhaven to be the best table in the pack. It has a classic recessed playfield, and the feel is much lighter than either of the other tables. I found it to be a joy to play and uncover its secrets.Overall, the Game Night Pinball Pack is one of the better table packs I've played for the new Pinball FX platform. The tables are all distinct, and they play and flow well, making it easy to recommend regardless of whether you know the properties involved or not.
