A truly unique concept for a table that has merit, but some performance issues are a concern
As a person who spent a significant amount of time playing real physical pinballs back in their heyday, I’ll admit that I’m much more enthusiastic about remakes of those (at least the Williams tables) when compared to Zen’s originals. Though there have been a few very unique ones like Epic Quest that have been fun, more often than not they’ve failed to grab me.That’s why Super League Football was such a pleasant surprise. A table that’s based around a football match? You’ve got my attention. Now, there’s no question that one difficulty with the table is getting accustomed to its flow of play, as there are elements to it that are somewhat unique. The thing is, if you’re a huge fan of the sport, I’m not sure you’ll mind, especially the first time you’re able to score a goal to the roar of the crowd.I will admit that at least in terms of the Switch version, I do have a concern, and that’s its overall spotty performance. Granted, the majority of the time it does well enough that I didn’t feel it was impacting my play, but I did have a periodic skip once in a while where it made me absolutely lose track of the ball, and depending on what’s going on at the moment that could be a real bummer. In the end, I’d say if you’re excited by originality and efforts that push to defy the normal expectations for what a table can be, you should take the plunge. Just if you have an option to enjoy it on another platform that may be preferable.
