With more of a distinct layout, and plenty of bawdy jokes, this is the better of the two Elvira tables
When it comes to classic physical pinball tables, it was unusual to see any particular person or group get more than one, especially in pretty close proximity to each other. But of course, if you know anything about the iconic Elvira, you’ll know she’s well known for her stunning pair… of pinball tables. While the conversion of Elvira and the Party Monsters certainly has its strengths, including the mistress herself taking a dip in a cauldron in a bathing suit, the stronger table of the two is really Scared Stiff.Starting with the table layout itself, Scared Stiff is absolutely the less derivative of the two, with a playfield that flows well and a pretty great backglass that features a spinner that adds to the fun. In general, this table also benefits from being more in the vein of others like Theater of Magic and others that are more focused on plenty of bells and whistles and ample opportunities for multiball. While perhaps older-school purists may prefer a more subdued and professional setup, this is just plain fun, loud, and doing its own thing. The other huge benefit the table gets is plenty of voice work from the mistress herself, making all sorts of dirty and suggestive comments… but of course just talking about pinball, nothing else. One thing I didn’t remember quite so much is the amount of classic pinball love the game had, with some references to older tables that were a lot of fun to hear as well. Just through and through this is a table that’s a blast to play on, whether you’re an Elvira fan or not.
