Perhaps unsurprisingly, this game is utter s#!t unless you’re entertained by the same 5 basic levels (with the same basic gameplay) on repeat forever
Having played a few thousand titles since the launch of the Switch, I’ve come to understand the many distinct flavors of bad games. First, there are those that are simply broken, making them challenging to play without crashes or major elements of gameplay simply not working at all. Second, there are those that have grand ambitions but due to a lack of time, talent, or resources just never come together. The last may be the most egregious though, and those are titles that work precisely as intended but show no ambition, are painfully shallow, and are simply meant to embody the term shovelware, hoping to make some money from people thinking they’re giving a low-budget title a chance. As you may have guessed from the name, Poopy Time is unfortunately an example of the last type. Obviously geared to pull people in with the promise of some potty humor, it’s no surprise that the plan here is simple. You’ll eat food that’s laying around, try your best to avoid a few roving cops, and then when you’re full leave a turd on the floor in one of the limited number of places located around the play area. Beyond those basics you simply need to know that if you can find the spot where a cup of coffee is placed every so often you’ll get a temporary boost in speed, and that if you accidentally run into one of the poo piles it will temporarily slow you down. While it’s hardly rocket science, I kept playing through more levels than it deserved in the hopes that at some point there would be a clear evolution in play, or hook that could possibly keep the game from being deleted within the first 10 minutes. Alas, there’s no such redemption here. While you’ll go to new locations and get to play as different characters for the first 5 levels, from that point it’s just more of the literal same ad nauseum. Just to add insult to injury, I’d argue that some of the characters look like painfully ignorant cultural stereotypes, but it’s honestly just par for the course in this utter train wreck that nobody should be wasting their time or money on.
