There’s really no way to say it aside from this train sim is absolutely not ready for prime time on Switch…
With some recent releases like this one there’s no mistaking that the Switch hardware is getting long in the tooth. Before getting into the fact that right now this title is a buggy and outright crash-prone mess, I did want to set the record straight a bit in its defense to a certain degree. Playing a sim like this is never particularly ideal using a controller when compared to a mouse and keyboard, but the challenge in recommending even reasonably well-developed games that are better suited to the PC than a console is greatly multiplied now when the console in question is the Switch. Whether in handheld or docked mode the game looks downright clunky, and when you add in the sound often cutting out, hitches in performance, and outright crashes there just really is no redeeming quality to this freshly-launched release. Your best bet would be finding it elsewhere or perhaps settling for the reasonably-good original, also available on Switch, which should scratch your itch for a train sim much more reliably.
