Even with its jittery zombies and somewhat buggy nature Remorse can deliver some surprises, but it’s hard to ignore some of its issues
At this point I’ve played zombie games of all sorts on the Switch. Some of them have been good, but unfortunately most of them have honestly been a bit on the wonky side. That makes for a sort of good news / bad news scenario as it concerns Remorse: The List. I don’t think anyone playing it would consider it to be polished by a long shot, whether looking at the models that look less scary every second you see them, and weird issues of them getting stuck popping up quite a bit. Now, if you like jump scares the game does do a fair job of throwing you off, giving you the creeps, and then delivering a quick visual and audio hit to get your attention, but there’s only so far you can get on that alone. Throw in the fact the game’s inventory system is a pain to use, and yet obviously something you’ll need to do often, and it takes the steam out of any excitement. I think the most disappointing thing is that though the zombies tend to be quite relentless and challenging to dispatch, their movement is so jittery and odd it’s a bit tough to take them seriously. If you can be patient with it there’s some fun to be had, but it has issues.
