If you’re a huge fan of beat-em-ups or crazy martial arts action Sifu delivers, but you’ll need to work for it!
Boy oh boy is it an exciting time to be a fan of fighting action / beat-em-ups. Sifu is fast, smart, pretty complex and my gosh it is tough. You’ll need to learn how to deal with different types of attackers, see their patterns, and understand how to try to stay alive as engaging many enemies at once is the norm here. For sure learning when to block versus when to simply run away when they attempt to surround you is an essential skill, and then always being on the lookout for a weapon is also always a good plan. Where things get unique and even more rough is that as you get knocked down or “killed” you’ll have the opportunity to come back, generally getting a bit stronger every time, but aging years in the process. Once you hit 70 (and as you’re learning the ropes this may not take as long as you think) you’ll no longer be able to revive and will need to go back, trying to continue to become more capable of tackling the many challenges the game throws at you. The action is quick, intense, and can sometimes just be plain brutal but if you’re the determined type it absolutely demands you get back in there to dish out some more damage, trying your best to keep getting smarter and more effective. It may not be as pretty on Switch as it is elsewhere, but if you don’t have another option or really would like to take it on the go (unless you have a Steam Deck) this is absolutely a workable option.
