Top-down zombie shooting that’s satisfying only to a point, but it offers a decent few hours
As a huge fan of twin-stick shooters I’m always down for something in that vein, and certainly an offer to throw zombies and some bloodshed to the mix is just fine by me as well. If you keep your expectations and desires simple, Splatter will give you a perfectly enjoyable few hours of a campaign with a mild to moderate challenge, some delicious tension in spots (especially with some of the bosses), and some fun. While I could see where the very Max Payne-ish hard-boiled / noir narrator could grate on the nerves of some, I appreciated its contribution to the overall serious but still a bit weird tone to things. After you get through that you’ll have the chance to play with a Survival mode or go through things with a friend but the main attraction is definitely the campaign. I’ll give it credit for having a flavor there’s not much of on the system, which earns it a nod, but overall in terms of mechanics and overall excitement there’s also definitely more ambitious and polished on the system.
