If you happen to be a fan of the spooky season and retro games this may do the trick
Seasonal games are always a bit of a risk of being niche, and so are 8-bit revival games. In a gutsy combination of both you have Sunshine Manor, a very retro feeling experience that struggles with the old-school technology to create any real sense of dread or peril, but does make for a decent retro game overall. Given that fully modern games that have the goal of being horror titles often come up a bit short with only periodic jump scares or things that inspire any feeling of fear I suppose this isn’t a surprise, Sunshine Manor I suppose tries to push that button no less than many do, but give the limitations of the presentation if the spooky season is your inspiration, and you’re looking for some frights, this is likely to let you down. If, however, you just enjoy a trip down nostalgia lane for a game made in the style of the 8-bit era it may be worth a look.
