Though a bit slow to get rolling, there’s some satisfaction and challenge to be had in this roguelike action RPG title
Given the fact that there are, at this point, a ton of very good roguelike games out there on the system already, I can find I tend to be hard on those now trying to break in. The Excrawlers is a bit of a tough one though, clearly not running with the most polished and refined ones out there, but with a very budget-friendly price and generally engaging play (once you get used to it) it still has its merits. Without getting far and beginning to get your upgrades rolling there’s less to get excited with, as your characters default abilities to slash or shoot enemies and then dodge feel pretty limited. As you get upgrades and enhanced skills though you’ll find you can feel quite capable and things get a bit more fun. I unfortunately hit a periodic stability issue where my game crashed twice, so it isn’t all smiley faces, but hopefully with a patch this budget roguelike with some simple appeal can get some attention.
