There’s an old-school appeal to this side-scroller, but the lack of fluidity and variety in your moves holds it back
When you’re dealing with more old-school fare, especially when they’re also budget-friendly titles, it’s a bit hard to be too rough on them in terms of expectations. Toziuha Night is squarely in that space, absolutely looking and feeling like a game from an earlier age, complete with some of the downsides that classic titles had. Your attacks and general moves are a bit on the stiff side, you’ll suffer from knockback when taking a hit, and your character simply isn’t very nimble. All that said, if you’re mindful of the classics like Castlevania and others that the action is reminiscent of, and don’t mind going back to that feel, it shouldn’t be as big a deal. It has some quirks and issues, but for the price if you’re looking for some old-school side-scrolling action it has some appeal.
