With an almost mobile-esque light feel, and plenty of ridiculousness, this could have appeal for somewhat mindless fun
Like a few previously-released and staggering similar “water park racers” already out there on Switch, Uphill Rush is absolutely an acquired taste and more of an action game than a racer. In it, you’ll ride your inner tube (later upgradeable to all manner of craziness) along sometimes roller coaster-esque water slides, increasing or decreasing your speed and then trying to angle yourself the best you can to stick your landings. While initially it can be a bit of light fun, if you’re looking for nuance or a challenge you’ll probably walk away disappointed. It’s really more all about an almost mobile-like grind of fun, accumulating winnings and unlocking new characters to play as and things to ride in. Weirdly, most of the time it’s very easy, but then on occasion you’ll hit some spot where it’s really easy to hit your head and end your run, but thankfully that doesn’t happen often. Well-suited to younger or more casual players, this has some potential appeal, but don’t expect much beyond some light fun while grinding for the next unlock.
