A case of when you obviously are inspired by a great game and utterly fail to match what made it special
This is one of the more unusual games I’ve run into of late, and among the most disappointing. Not because it was the worst made, but because what drew me to it was a pretty obvious similarity it had in terms of look and concepts with the fantastic What the Golf. The problem with targeting an excellent, creative, and pretty unique title to emulate is that you really need to go the extra mile to match its energy or the gap immediately becomes very noticeable. Sadly, that’s very much the case here. The game really feels half-finished in many ways. You can mechanically play through the levels just fine, and they have some humor and quirk that are nice, but there’s just missing a creative spark and any real whiff of the unpredictable silliness that its inspiration pulled off in spades. Due to the similarities, I wish I could be more enthusiastic about it, but because it fails to really come together it remains tough to heartily recommend in any way.
