As a twin-stick shooting connoisseur, this is a pretty disappointing experience
If you’re looking for a quality, and even generally affordable, twin-stick shooter the Switch more than has you covered. I’ve been happy as a pig in mud this generation as not only has pretty much every twin-stick shooter I loved on Steam made it to Switch, simply in general there have just been loads of them released. I was going to mention that I think, on average, the subgenre has scored better than most… but then you get a title like Zomborg that kind of blows up the positive feelings a bit. It’s not that it’s a terrible game, I suppose you could easily consider it playable, the issue is just that it’s pretty lifeless and dull. You’re more likely to simply give up out of boredom well before you could get frustrated, especially since on the whole it just feels like there’s too much dead space to walk through to look for objectives. There’s a little variety to help ensure you pay a little attention to what’s coming for you, but that doesn’t mean some pretty simple circle strafing technique being applied won’t still usually make quick work of them. It’s just a space so full of exciting and dynamic shooting action that this has almost nothing of merit going for it.
