Yes, you could choose to view it as an indie Pokemon Snap clone, but that would be denying its simple charms
In many ways I’m surprised that it has taken so long for other developers to take a crack at the on-rails photo safari route Nintendo originally took with Pokemon Snap. Especially for younger or less experienced gamers the gentle pace, predictability of patterns, and somewhat hidden object nature of trying to find creatures and get the best possible picture of them is a great hook. While Game Freak’s iconic critters aren’t the subjects of your photographic hunts, thankfully much of that same charm comes through in the various curious creatures you’ll happen upon. As you check objectives off your list, new ways to change your route and discover new areas will continue to unlock, opening the door to fresh discoveries and mild and pleasant fun. While at most it will likely only consume a small handful of hours on average it may not be groundbreaking, but it’ll at least be a relaxing and enjoyable time for the right crowd.
