While there are quite a number of quality roguelike deckbuilders already in the eShop, Wildfrost makes a strong case for some attention
Possibly one of the biggest subgenre explosions in the past few years has been the emergence of the roguelike deckbuilder. Not only have there been quite a number of titles coming for the crown that earlier games like Slay the Spire claimed when they were released, many have tended to come to the table bringing refinements and more variety to the mix as well. Wildfrost brings its own flair to the party, sporting some great character and card art, a wide variety of hero and support cards to wrap your arms around, a consistent flow of goals and challenges to be completed to contribute to your meta progression, and a generally approachable level of challenge not all of its brethren share. I’d say for people newer to the genre it may throw you a bit too quickly into the deep end, maybe making it a less appealing choice for subgenre newbies, but if you’ve already got some familiarity you should be able to dive right in and have a good time with it.
