If you’re into dogs and feel-good vibes, even if there’s not a load of compelling gameplay to match it, this is a soothing and touching adventure
Sometimes, even for people who usually look for more adrenaline-pumping fare, it’s nice to just have a game take you on a pleasant journey full of happy thoughts and positive beats. If that’s what you’re thirsty for, Hello Goodboy is here for you to lap up and quench your need for positivity. You and your talking dog Coco will embark (HA!) on an adventure to meet people, help them out (typically by participating in very simple mini games), and then hopefully put together the mystery of how you’ve ended up in the afterlife. Oh, did I forget to mention that element? Some extra intrigue and discovery tied to that problem really rounds out the experience well and helps to elevate it further, making for an even more compelling journey. Though in terms of gameplay it's extremely light and perhaps a bit dull, the story and positivity are what's on sale here, with what action there is just serving as a means to keep you engaged.
