If you’re looking for a pretty crazy and bloody good time, and don’t mind the retro FPS look and feel, this delivers
Retro FPS titles have had a tendency to be very hit or miss, sometimes adhering too closely to classic level designs (which weren’t typically very good), and sometimes just not delivering play that backs up decidedly simpler visuals. While Nightmare Reaper may not nail all elements of its execution, with some of its level design perhaps being a bit odd and confusing, there’s no question that in terms of its insane array of weapons and copious amounts of blood to be spilled it can be a thrill. What’s terrific though is that it aims even higher with all sorts of unexpected surprises, including hidden mini games, meta progression with the currency you accumulate, and plenty of secrets to be uncovered if you’re a diligent level explorer. While this may not be the prettiest shooter on the Switch by any means, it has personality and fun to burn and is absolutely recommended.
