It’s time to skate it up like the old days, revisiting some great stage designs, challenging objectives, and plenty of nostalgia for two titles that generally have held up nicely
While sometimes it’s better to stick to the memories of classic games gone by, there’s no doubt that this is a classic worth being able to revisit all the same… for those already familiar
While the bones of the experience are sound, the console controls and some decisions on what features to prioritize and include make this a tougher deal to close on
While it does a fair job of repackaging many elements of the classic Donkey Kong 3, and is certainly playable, it’s mostly just good… not necessarily great
While it takes its time getting into the meat of things, despite this being more of a 16-bit throwback affair, it’s one of the better horror games out in the eShop
While, once it gets rolling, this offers up a pretty solid sci-fi horror adventure, the console-style controls, some presentation shortcomings, and often haphazard puzzle design detract from its strengths
While overall this is a competent 3D platformer, the copy-and-paste mechanic can be hit or miss, and the world as a whole often feels thrown together without much of a plan
Aside from the general mechanics for interacting with the puzzles feeling sloppy, the initial bleak outlook may be too triggering from the people who could ultimate benefit from the game’s attempted message
As twin-stick zombie shooting roguelikes go, this manages to be pretty good, with a variety of missions and customizations that work well, and a challenge once it gets rolling
While it can still be a bit of a slog getting through its turn-based battles, and no targeted aiming is still aggravating, overall it could still be worthwhile if you have patience with it
While both of these tables play reasonably well, and are thankfully quite different from one another, they’re generally just middling in design and execution
While its oddball collection of mini games (including 3 with mouse support exclusive to Switch 2) has some charm, it has some flaws that don’t make it automatically family-friendly
While it has an abundance of mini games available to play, their quality being haphazard at best, and spotty multiplayer options, make this tough to recommend
A visual novel with somewhat limited, but significant, choices given its short run time, that explores alternative romance with generally solid writing
As a life-long fan of TRON, and who loves opportunities to spend time on the Grid, I’ll admit that I wish Catalyst were a little stronger, but it works for what it is
Despite its visual minimalism, there’s a fair simulation challenge to be had here, but there are other titles in the same space that feel more polished
No doubt aspiring to be an exciting and attractive action-RPG, Gatewalkers has numerous issues that prevent it from even clearly reaching the middle of the pack
